PHOENIX, AZ – February 1, 2011 – Gina McCarthy, Assistant Administrator for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Air and Radiation , was the keynote speaker during the plenary session of EUEC 2011, the USA’s largest energy, utility and environment conference held at the Phoenix Convention Center from January 31 through February 2, 2011. The U.S. EPA recently announced a two-year plan to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emission standards under the Clean Air Act for power plants and oil refineries. McCarthy opened the plenary session at 9:00 a.m. on January 31 with a presentation about the EPA’s schedule to issue proposed regulations for power plants by July 26, 2011, and final regulations by May 26, 2012.

Representatives from the nation’s top energy agencies and organizations followed the plenary presentation by McCarthy with presentations about crucial issues facing the industry.
