C
TRADE Philippines
operating
subsidiary in Philippines, uses its proprietary anaerobic digestion
technology to construct concrete biogas digesters to produce methane
from manure wastes for animal farm owners to: (1) produce methane-rich
biogas for electricity generation, (2) eliminate waste water discharges,
(3) produce fertilizer for sale and
(4) finance using carbon credits.

USAID:
U.S. Agency for International Development awarded a three-year
($2.4M) Grant to the Philippine Sanitation Alliance (PSA) of C
TRADE and PADCO in 2007 to implement sanitation and wastewater
projects to improve health, environment and economic conditions.
These resources will fund new investments in appropriate sanitation
solutions and commercial/institutional facilities, providing health
benefits to more than 900,000 people in the Philippines. >>

C TRADE generates electric power for pig and poultry
farms in the Philippines using waste methane biogas recovered
from manure collected in concrete tanks (anaerobic digesters)
that also serve as waste water pollution control systems &
produce fertilizer for sale.
C TRADE develops carbon credits called Certified Emission Reductions
(CER), to fund the projects and transfers ownership through a
Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) scheme to the farm owner.
Benefits of Biogas
to Energy System:
" Develops zero-discharge wastewater management system
" Provide innovative financing using CERs
" Reduce or eliminate odor and groundwater pollution
" Provide employment, generate power and organic fertilizer
" Reduces and finally eliminates wastewater lagoons and ponds
Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Scheme
C TRADE will finance, design, build, operate and transfer the
biogas digester and power generating system to the farm owner
in 10 to 15 years in exchange for the carbon credits to be developed.
Listed below are the steps involved
in the project development.
Phase 1: Farm Owner signs a Project Development Agreement with
C TRADE. C TRADE will secure information on the farm and start
developing the design of the biogas digester for the SOW level
of the farm. The Farm owner will ensure that the farm has all
local operating permits. A local stake holder meeting is held
with farm neighbors and local government officials to detail the
proposed project.
Phase 2: C TRADE will finance and construct Biogas Digester followed
by start-up and monitor of gas production, train local operators,
and design power generating system.
Phase 3. Power Generating System is specified and procured based
on the amount of gas production. Farm pays for electricity used
at 10% to 30% below current price which is used to pay for cost
of construction.
Phase 4. Sludge dewatering and Fertilizer System is designed
and installed. Sludge from the bottom of the digester tanks are
fed to a sludge collection system for dewatering. The dried sludge
from the sludge tank is removed for fertilizer production. Cleaned
water is reused in farm operations thus eliminating any waste
water discharge.
